Course Description

Safe Care Nursing Framework is a decision support tool developed and taught by Hirpal Hundial RN, BScN, MSN.

There are no exams or tests to pass. Your enthusiasm and dedication to safe patient care are all that is required.

Course Description:

This course consists of 4 modules which you can move through at your own pace.

Module 1: Critical Thinking and Introduction to the Safe Care Nursing Framework - consists of understanding the current nature of critical thinking and an introduction to the Safe Care Framework.

Module 2 : Guided Concept Mapping: Understanding Key Relationships - demonstrates the use of guiding questions within the Safe Care Framework to construct a specific type of concept map. A case scenario is utilized in this module to assist you with this process.

Module 3: The Priority Setting Tool: Engaging In Critical Thinking - introduces you to the second part of the Safe Care Framework: The Priority Setting Tool. In this module you will be able to take the understanding you have achieved from the concept map and apply it to identifying all actual and potential priorities of care.

Module 4: Case Presentation Into Action - takes you through an acute care patient scenario where you can apply your understanding of the Safe Care Framework.

There are several learning activities throughout this course. You will be directed to these learning activities within the platform of this course. As we move through each of the scenarios you may pause longer than the time given to identify your responses, before being given the correct response in the subsequent slide.

Requirements and Exams

The estimated time to complete this course is 4 – 8 hours depending on your learning needs. We have included additional web resources that you may find helpful as you move through the course content.
